Award-winning design:
“red dot: best of the best” goes to TA Triumph-Adler
For the second year in a row, TA Triumph-Adler AG’s Annual Report has won over the experts of the red dot design award jury. They honoured it in the category “red dot: best of the best” for superior design quality.
Nuremberg, December 9, 2009 – This year’s Annual Report particularly impressed the jury with its unembellished design, simple staple binding and use of recycled paper. In keeping with the theme of the report – ‘Transforming passion into action’ – TA Triumph-Adler AG also demonstrated the courage to take corporate design in new directions. The annual report’s clean, straightforward layout, which is particularly evident in the typographic elements and no-frills visual concept, was the company’s prescient response to the economic crisis: “The design shows that we see hard economic times as a challenge that we accept with passionate determination. That’s why our annual report concentrated on the essentials, and radically so.” Karl Rainer Thiel, Head of Corporate Communication at TA Triumph-Adler, feels that the ability to change the way we think is a priceless advantage, especially in times like these. This principle applies for the brand as well as for the qualified employees who invest this philosophy with new ideas and impulses for the company – which is another reason why they are portrayed in a representative and unorthodox way in the annual report. Topics such as environmental protection and social responsibility also play a major role, so the report intentionally dispenses with the sort of flashy, high-gloss imagery that companies typically use in corporate brochures today. Instead the report uses content to emphasize, along with business-related aspects, the social commitment of the traditional Nuremberg-based brand. In so doing, however, the people who are actually making it all happen do not break stride: “We’re entirely focussed on our core activities and waste no energy whatsoever on distractions,” says Thiel.
The red dot design awards are one of the most prestigious design competitions worldwide. Each year, an international jury of experts awards this seal of quality for ambitious and innovative design to the very best entries from among a large number submitted for evaluation. And this year was no exception, with more than 6,000 submissions from 42 countries in the running. Only 56 of those submissions received the ‘best of the best’ award. All of the prize-winning entries are on display in an exhibition at the red dot design museum in Essen until January 10, 2010.
