Family Centre Bleiweiß – Nuremberg/Südstadt

Brief profile:
Child daycare facility for children, with 75 places for children aged between 3 and 6 years.

Philosophy and main focus:

• Living everyday life together
• Networked work with children and simultaneously with parents, visitors (siblings, previous attendees), senior citizens and voluntary helpers
• A total of 32 senior citizens are involved as volunteers
• Promotion of cultural diversity (21 countries of origin, 15 family languages, South-Asian countries predominate)

Breakfast, which is prepared communally, represents an important event. The benefits of a healthy diet are “made tangible” for the children and parents. In addition to promoting healthy living, the experience of spending time together, of mutual support and exchange, as well as learning are of incalculable value for the children’s psychological balance.

How the foundation’s funds are utilised

"Currently, we would like to further improve and expand on the quality of the diet at the daycare facility. We would like to offer breakfast, an organic lunch and afternoon snacks for all the children. Our goal is not only to feed all the children in a healthy manner, but to make them fit for life by communicating a healthy awareness of diet, as well as healthy inter-cultural customs and lifestyles with lots of outdoor exercise."
