Document business bailout – COO Guisardo Pin from TA Triumph-Adler on Euro Finance Week in Frankfurt
IT was top of the agenda at the key Euro Finance Week conference, which took place in Frankfurt am Main from 14 to 18 November. One of the central topics of the conference was "Banking – IT 2020“. For Guiscardo Pin, Chief Operating Officer of the TA Triumph-Adler Group, based in Nuremberg, this was an appropriate choice of topic despite the banking and euro crises.
Nuremberg, 15 November 2011.
"Financial service providers are currently facing enormous challenges, not least in view of the Basel III regulatory standard. In order to be able to meet such strict requirements, internal structures need to be examined with a view to reducing costs and making processes more efficient. Management has recognised the enormous potential for cost-effectiveness and efficient use of resources that exists in IT in particular. Costs and processes in banks should be examined before cutting costs by losing talented people.“
Pin believes that "that legislators will tighten the regulatory screw even further, resulting in even stricter requirements for seamless documentation.“ At the same time, however, financial service providers need to make their structures more efficient and reduce costs in order to meet stringent capital requirements and remain competitive.
Guiscardo Pin, who has been COO with the German market leader in the document business for just under a year, sees the consequences of this in the document business as efforts to reduce costs on the one hand and ensure efficient and legally compliant handling of documents on the other: "At present, more than 2,000 customers in the industry in Germany, from regional savings banks, building societies and asset management firms right up to large group service providers, use document business solutions from TA Triumph-Adler. With output management solutions, digital document organisation and our own manufacturer-independent Managed Document Service (MDS) concept "Kirk", which is now also available as a mobile App, savings of between 15 and 70 percent can be achieved.“ Reduced costs are not the only advantage, according to Pin. "Other benefits include data security, legal security, saving of space, process optimisation and a single contact for everything. Employees also have more time to spend on their core
activities and can obtain rapid assistance from the TÜV-certified TA service "James" when needed.“
Guiscardo Pin is calling on financial service providers to concentrate on financial services and not to become entangled in costly document management. The experts from TA Triumph-Adler have witnessed all too often "how companies can become swamped by a tidal wave of electronic documents.“ They quickly lose perspective and in their panic cling to their tried-and-trusted, but expensive systems, which tie up staff and incur costs that could easily be avoided. "With simple and scalable Managed Document Services, we optimise the document workflow – from printing, copying, scanning and faxing right up to electronic archiving.“ This isn’t going to bail out any banks, says Guiscardo Pin. But by improving their document workflow, financial service providers have more freedom to focus on the real challenges facing the industry. "A modern document business is therefore like a kind of “mini-bailout”.“
