30.09.2008: Süddeutscher Verlag opts for a TA Triumph-Adler solution

New large-scale contract for TA Triumph-Adler Corporate Consulting GmbH (TA-CCO). Süddeutsche Verlag has handed over the organisation of all output document management activities at its new publishing house in Munich to the document business specialists from the Rhineland. The TA-CCO solution will enable the media enterprise to significantly reduce its printing, faxing and copying costs. For the document business specialists, this project represented a very special challenge. Because Süddeutsche Verlag had yet to move into its new premises, the new document management system had to be planned entirely on the basis of architectural blueprints.

Bonn, September 30, 2008 – As one of Germany’s largest media enterprises, Süddeutsche Verlag has an enormous annual print volume. As had happened in many other publishing houses, expansion of the output management structures and workflows of the Munich-based media enterprise over a number of years led to a lack of clarity. This in turn resulted in excessively high costs for document output, time-consuming workflows and unutilised optimisation potential. This is where the team from TA Triumph-Adler Corporate Consulting GmbH, led by Managing Director Frank Eismann, got to work: “With the aid of the TOM (Total output Management) consulting and analysis concept, an analysis of the existing office equipment was carried out and unnecessary cost sinks identified, free of charge.”

The analysis, which determines purchasing costs, the number of systems used and the consumables required per year, amongst other things, was carried out under difficult conditions. Because Süddeutsche Verlag was moving into new premises, the entire planning of the new solution had to be carried out using models. The new publishing house of the Munich-based media enterprise has approx. 1,850 workstations spread out over a total of 28 floors and approx. 39,800 m2 of office space. Whereas, normally, TA-CCO employees can test the individual systems on-site and devise a concept for the optimum workflow, this time they had to rely exclusively on floor plans and overviews of the existing system landscape. Nevertheless, the document consultants were soon able to present their time and cost optimisation concept for optimising the publisher’s output.

The new concept takes the publisher’s specific requirements in relation to output management into account. TA-CCO GmbH thus implemented standardised printer landscapes – which are now common in publishing – in a wide range of different application environments. “Standardisation of the hardware, which we undertake with the existing IT infrastructure in mind, is a critical success factor for our customers”, says Eismann. “In the case of Süddeutschen Verlag, we succeeded in optimising the entire cost structure.” As Managing Director of TA-CCO, he and his team are responsible for the entire KAM (Key Account Management) business of the Nuremberg parent company TA Triumph-Adler AG throughout Germany and have experience acquired in over 1,800 company audits for medium-sized enterprises and listed companies from all sectors.
