Triumph-Adler 1986 - 2000
1986 Olivetti takes over TA Triumph-Adler
Italian office machine manufacturer Olivetti acquires TA Triumph-Adler, which generates a turnover of just under 1.2 billion deutschmarks in 1985 with a staff of around 8,000.
First signs of a drop in demand for electronic typewriters; sales fall 10% to 675,000 units; trend is for further sharp drops.
1991 Notebook with colour display
TA Triumph-Adler is given the assignment of manufacturing PCs and notebooks within the Olivetti Group.
TA brings out the Darius range of personal computers, and develops and produces a new generation of notebooks with colour displays. At the end of 1992, Olivetti ceases the manufacture of TA notebooks. TA Triumph-Adler is now chiefly run as a distributorship.
1994 TA becomes a medium-sized holding
A corporate-orientated shareholders’ consortium purchases TA Triumph-Adler and creates a medium-sized holding for companies in various industries.
The TA holding includes office, games and leisure, structural engineering and healthcare lines. The largest of these is the office line, covering the sale and servicing of copier and fax systems.
1996 Centenary year
For the 100th anniversary of the firm’s creation, the Triumph-Adler "Kinder in Not [Children in Need]" Foundation is founded and endowed with a foundation capital of 1 million deutschmarks.
The general purpose of the Foundation is the promotion and support of children and young people who are physically or mentally handicapped or who find themselves in material or spiritual need.
1999 Core competence office communication
TA Triumph-Adler purchases UTAX GmbH and carries out a comprehensive reorganisation of the group from its roots up – its core competence now becomes office communication in the imaging industry: copying, printing and faxing.
