15.10.2008: Hertha BSC opts for efficiency in the document business

The positive trend continues – football club Hertha BSC follows the Bundesliga in its choice of document management solution. TA Triumph-Adler Corporate Consulting GmbH (TA-CCO), responsible for Key Account Management for TA Triumph-Adler AG throughout Germany and a specialist for efficiency in the document business, recently replaced the entire hardware of Hertha BSC with standardised systems. SPORTFIVE acted as mediator for this co-operation. With the new solution, the club expects to save around 20 per cent on its printing costs.

Bonn, October 15, 2008 – TA Triumph-Adler has considerable expertise when it comes to document management in football stadia. The company supplied all stadia with output systems and consumables for the FIFA 2006 World Cup. “TA Triumph-Adler carried out a comprehensive systems analysis and used the results of this analysis to devise a concept designed to meet our specific requirements. The concept was very impressive from both a content and financial perspective. We therefore decided to go ahead with the changeover,” explains Ingo Schiller, Managing Director of Hertha BSC, in relation to the decision to award the contract to TA Triumph-Adler.

The TOM (Total Output Management) analysis and consulting concept developed by TA Triumph-Adler was used in the comprehensive analysis of the existing system landscape, which preceded implementation of the new printing solution at Hertha BSC. The concept enabled the TA employees, led by Managing Director Frank Eismann, to identify unnecessary cost sinks. It was discovered that around 50 different output systems from 17 different vendors were in use. “Merely stocking up the many different consumables for the equipment already generated high costs. Significant savings could thus be achieved by standardising hardware systems and outsourcing device maintenance”, explains Eismann. “When standardising the hardware we paid particular attention to the existing IT infrastructure.” During the course of the analysis, the Bundelisga team also decided to replace its entire IT and output hardware. This tasks was also performed by TA Triumph-Adler. As part of the standardisation process, the document specialists have provided new PCs, monitors, notebooks and servers. These are used in different areas of the club, including administration, the fan shop and the marketing department. Since the changeover, PCs, notebooks and output systems all come from a single vendor.

The ticket sales department had very specific requirements in terms of a printing solution. Special printers were needed to print the tickets for Bundesliga matches. This task is now performed using Zebra label printers. Hertha BSC prints 90,000 black-and-white pages and 15,000 colour pages every month. The requisite high availability of the office systems is guaranteed by an ‘all-in’ rental contract. It stipulates that systems are restored to operating condition within four hours in service cases. On match days, the Bundesliga club benefits from a special service offered by TA Triumph-Adler, whereby a TA document consultant is always available directly on-site to ensure that any emergency maintenance and repairs can be carried out and to make sure everything runs smoothly.
