16.12.2008: Diakonie Michaelshoven: More time and money for patient care thanks to the innovative TA Triumph-Adler solution
Lack of money continues to be a problem in social services organisations. To save money, cost-effective and efficient solutions for administrative tasks are crucial. TA Triumph-Adler Corporate Consulting GmbH recently modernised the existing printing solution of Diakonie Michaelshoven and the institution now has significantly more efficient document output as a result. The systems in use operate far more cost-effectively than their predecessors. This means that the money goes where it is really needed – in helping people who rely on the assistance provided by social services organisations.
Nuremberg, December 2008 – The effects of the shift in demographic in Germany are already clear to see. The number of long-term patients is growing steadily. More than two million people already require long-term care. Furthermore, current estimates from the Federal Statistical Office show that the shift in demographic in Germany could lead to more than three million people requiring long-term care by the year 2030. This development coupled with the current downturn in the German economy is placing social services organisations, and long-term care facilities in particular, under considerable pressure.
However, there are ways of reducing this cost pressure. Diakonie Michaelshoven has decided to lead the way by being one of the first social services organisations to hand over its document management to a team of experts. In doing so, it has successfully reduced its printing, copying, faxing and scanning costs by 25 per cent. TA Triumph-Adler Corporate Consulting GmbH (TA-CCO), the specialist for efficiency in the document business, implemented a completely new output solution for Diakonie Michaelshoven several years ago, and this system has now been modernised. One of the biggest challenges for TA-CCO Managing Director Frank Eismann in modernising the printing solution was the decentralised organisational structure of Diakonie Michaelshoven. Dealing with 470 systems at 70 locations during the roll-out was a considerable feat in terms of the logistics involved. Eismann is responsible within the TA Triumph-Adler AG Group for project sales throughout Germany.
Diakonie Michaelshoven is the biggest social services organisation of the Protestant church in the greater Cologne region. 1,700 employees look after 3,500 people in various institutions. The traditional areas of activity of the Diakonie are in providing care for the elderly, young people and people with disabilities, social integration and occupational rehabilitation. The Diakonie headquarters are located in Michaelshoven, in the Rodenkirchen area of Cologne. The organisation also has branches outside of Cologne, stretching from Mönchengladbach in the north to Bonn in the south and the Bergisches Land in the east. “Significant cost savings and service provider flexibility are the reasons why we chose a solution from TA Triumph-Adler,” explains Manfred Fuchs, Head of Central Procurement at Diakonie Michaelshoven, who is also the project manager responsible for the long-term co-operation with TA-CCO. “The document consultants responded directly to the prevailing conditions and requirements within our organisation. For example, Triumph-Adler had no problem adapting the contract to reflect changing output volumes.”
Another advantage is the ‘all-in' service agreement between Diakonie and TA Triumph-Adler, which guarantees the requisite high availability of the office systems. In service cases, systems are restored to operating condition within six hours. Diakonie employees therefore no longer have to worry about system maintenance. This means that they are free to concentrate on their core activities and save valuable working time. The savings potential that TA Triumph-Adler can offer is attracting a great deal of attention in the sector as a whole, with an increasing number of social services organisations opting for the TA-CCO concept.
