Printing and scanning
Is it possible to print and scan with an Android device via NFC?
Yes, you can use the features of TA Mobile Print by tapping the NFC tag of the printing device on the Android device.
How do I print a document?
Documents can be accessed from the Documents app window or from a supported external service. Tap Documents or one of the external services (Dropbox, Evernote, OneDrive, Google Drive or Shared Folder) to access the available documents. Once you have selected a document, you can set the print options.
Which file types are supported for printing?
Supported file formats are BMP, HTML (iOS only), JPG, PNG, PDF, TIFF, TXT and XPS. On iOS devices, you can also print RTF files and all file types from iWork (Keynote, Numbers and Pages), Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and Google Drive (Docs, Sheets and Slides). On Android devices, TXT files are printed at lower resolution.
What print options are available in the app?
The print qualities supported in the app are Normal, Draft and High (black and white models only). The available paper sizes are Letter, Legal, Ledger, Statement, A3, A4, A5, A6, Folio, B4, B5, B6 and Hagaki. You can also select the number of copies to print, the number of pages per sheet and the page range. Other options in the print settings depend on the model.
Can I select the paper tray?
Yes, but only in connection with the media type. The app selects Auto as the default setting for the paper source. You can choose from seven cassettes (device dependent) as well as the multi purpose tray. If the selected media type is not available in the selected paper source, the media type/paper source combination is used to print the job. The selection of the paper source does not affect the page format. The app sends the print jobs to the default paper source unless the desired paper size is not available in the selected paper source. In this case, the paper source that has the selected paper size will be used for the job.
Can I select the media type?
There is a long list of media types to choose from, including the Auto option.

NFC must be enabled on the Android device and the printing device. You can tap the printer's NFC tag from any function screen to connect to a printing device.
Which connection is used on Android devices for NFC?
A printing device has up to three IP addresses for the different connection types: wired, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct. When you tap an NFC tag, the app checks Wi-Fi availability in the following order:
- Wi-Fi Direct
If you can't connect to a printing device via wired or Wi-Fi, connect using Wi-Fi Direct.
Android OS has two connection modes for Wi-Fi Direct: Wi-Fi Access Point and Wi-Fi Direct Pairing. What is the difference?
You can access the Internet using the Wi-Fi pairing mode. If your mobile device accesses a wireless cellular network, this network is used for Internet access. TA Mobile Print prioritises the use of Wi-Fi when it is connected via a network. If the enabled Wi-Fi is not connected to the network, Wi-Fi Direct uses pairing mode to communicate with the printer and uses mobile data to access the Internet.
You cannot access the Internet using Wi-Fi access point mode.
E-mail and Web Browsing
How does TA Mobile Print work with e-mail?
You can send e-mails with attached documents or images from within the app if your machine is configured to send and receive e-mails.

I have problems previewing Microsoft Office files. Why?
TA Mobile Print uses iOS services to create previews for Office documents. Use files created in Office 2007 or later for better results.
While using the app on my iOS device, the message "Low memory" was displayed. What does this mean?
Your iOS device sends a warning message when it is running low on memory. When the storage space decreases, the system tries to free up the storage space used by open apps. If not enough memory is freed, the apps may crash. Closing the open apps on your mobile device may solve the problem.
I sent a print job but my printer is not responding. Why?
Check that your devices are connected to your local network and that the printer is turned on and not in sleep mode.
The print/scan performance is poor. What can I do?
It may improve performance if you select a lower resolution. Your network connection may be too slow, which can affect printing performance. You should also consider adding more memory to your printing device. At least 512 MB is recommended.
I am a system administrator. How can I set print and scan restrictions?
The system administrator can restrict printing and scanning on the printer from the Command Centre by enabling local authentication or network authentication. When user login is enabled, administrators can restrict resource access. Administrators can set job quotas via job accounting. In addition, restrictions and cost management can be set via the optional aQrate software.
